Fun Facts About Austell

Long before Austell was known by that name, it held the moniker of Salt Springs. When healing qualities of its waters were discovered, word spread rapidly and people came to Salt Springs (Austell) to find cures for ailments. The water had a high content of minerals like lithium, potassium, calcium and magnesium, granting it the name Lithia Water. Because it was a source of natural lithia water, and the surge of people that came searching for it, a settlement in the area resulted. This is how Austell, Georgia began.
